RVCA | VASF Gallery is pleased to announce “What New Mystery Is This”, a solo exhibition by San Francisco based artist Ryan De La Hoz. Ryan has expanded upon his ink and paper cut practice to include laser cut sculptures made with hand manipulated found imagery, textile works, and pieces made from custom fabricated puzzles that have been meticulously disassembled and rearranged to form dynamic compositions. This new media will be presented along with his signature hand cut paper and ink works for the first time. “What New Mystery Is This” presents a fractured alternate history where statues warp and pulsate alongside dizzying Op-Art.New window installation by Ben Venom & Bill McRight

Ryan De La Hoz (b. 1985) has been been published by FLJ Magazine in Tokyo, Museums Press in the UK, IdN Magazine in Hong Kong, and Beautiful/Decay in the US. He has participated in solo exhibitions in San Francisco and Seattle + group exhibitions in the United States as well as the Philippines, Japan, Hong Kong, Germany, Canada, and the United Kingdom. His work deals with a wide variety of topics including loss, hope, isolation, freedom from oppression, the destruction of natural resources, myth, magic, and the pursuit of happiness.
